Here We Go!

Dear friends,

In December of 2010 we got together for the first time as a full band.  After about a year of Neil playing solo and duet acoustic shows with Allen it just felt like the right time.  It was amazing to be back on stage playing loud jumpy tunes for all of you.  A year later we made a big decision and announcement to move from a four piece to a five piece.  Allen moved from bass to guitar and we added Jason G to fill our need on bass while Neil moved to only vocals.  A couple months later finds us here.

As some of you know Allen is in another band called The Eleventh Hour.  This was not an uncommon thing as he was in True Liberty before we started and was in a second band for the entirety of his life in Addison.  The Eleventh Hour has been met with great success and they are making outstanding music.  This has a downfall.  Allen can no longer balance both bands into his schedule and is leaving Addison.  He has composed a message for you all.

Friends and fans of Addison,

The way this band started was something special. Neil and I got together in his living room with our acoustic guitars once or twice a week over the summer of 2010 and began writing songs. We didn’t write songs to fit a genre or to please a scene, we wrote songs we loved and songs we could express ourselves with. We debuted as “Addison” together in August 2010 as an acoustic duo. Then that fall, some serious hardships hit and I never thought the band would continue….thankfully, that wasn’t the case. Neil and I got a band together, which included long friend Jason Schneider, new comers Dan Sykes and Jason Green. But it wasn’t just a band, we didn’t find members that filled a spot of instrumentation, we got members that became my brothers and my best friends. Playing music with Jason, Neil, Dan and Jason Green has been so rewarding and fulfilling. The memories made, the songs we wrote and the hardships we faced together are things I will never forget. However, everything does come to an end and sadly it’s a bit sooner than I would have wished for.

As most of you know, I play for another band called “the Eleventh Hour.” I have been blessed enough to be able to play with them full time but with that sort of commitment, I have to let go of some things. With that being said, I have to leave my brothers in Addison. I am leaving on good terms with everyone; if I could juggle both I would certainly love to continue playing music with them. Sadly, it isn’t the case. I don’t want to be a burden on them as I continue my career in the Eleventh Hour.

I know this band will continue to prosper and make tunes that will always be relatable, personal, that makes you tap your foot and jump up and down. I will still be featured on Addison’s debut album as well, thankfully. I will still attend Addison shows and I will be the first one in the front singing the songs that we made together. I love you all, and I will still see you at the shows as time permits. Thank you for molding me into the musician and man that I am today. Without you guys and these experiences, I wouldn’t be who I am.

Love,
Allen Bays

When a member leaves a band the remaining member are faced with several tough decisions.  To get some of those out of the way:  Yes, Addison is still a band.  We are working diligently to finish the writing for our upcoming full length album.  We trying to sort out a timetable for the album and rewrite parts that fit our current line-up so that we can record music that holds true to our live show.  Speaking of our live show, we have already played a show back as a four piece and it was fun and exciting for me to be back on guitar but we are still looking for someone to fill that need.  The shows that we played as five piece were the ones that we want to continue putting on.  We don’t know what the future holds for Addison but we continue with our only goal of writing and sharing music that we love.  We wish Allen and The Eleventh Hour the very best.

Thanks for singing along.

We have a show Sunday with our friends Bison and Parade. This show is only $5, it’s all ages, and it starts at 8:30pm! Not to mention, it’s our last big gig before we hit the road this summer to the Cornerstone Festival in Bushnell, IL! Our good friend, Corey McCook (drummer of Sam’s the Hero), will be helping us out on guitar while Neil puts down the axe due to a finger injury. We will be debuting some new material, too! Hope to see you there!

God Bless,
-Addison
PS: We will also have tickets for our acoustic show on 6/14/11 at Club Relevant at this show. A special guest from Audiostroblelight will be playing a new song with us!

New Updates!

Hey everyone,

Here are all our up coming shows, a few of them are new! We have some surprises at our acoustic show on the 14th. We may or may not be playing an old Sam’s the Hero song, or two, or three, or maybe none? You’ll have to come out and see! We also will be debuting a new song as well off our new album.

A quick update on the demo release, we are waiting on masters right now. We should have them next weekend before we hit the road to go to the Cornerstone Festival. If you want music, you will be able to get them on our new Band Camp website within the next couple of days when we receive them, and of course, we will have them at the shows in July.

Stay cool,

Day 2…

Hey everybody.

It’s day 2 in the studio.  Jason has started putting down the last of his tracks.  Allen has one to finish after that and then I get to go back into the booth to lay down some vocals.  Dan is working today so he doesn’t get to sit in on the awesome. Hope everybody has a safe and fun Memorial Day.

God Bless

Neil
